I’m pretty darn sure that neither of us expected to hear, “You have a positive pregnancy test.” For those of you that don’t know — we’ve tried to get to that phrase for the last 20 or so months. It’s been a fight. Lots of doctors. Not a lot of great news. Perseverance, lots of love and so very much support from family and friends got us here today. They tell me I am four weeks and one day. For now, it’s a secret. Hopefully, soon enough, we’ll be shouting it from the rooftops.

the first post
Most people who know me know that I am a fairly avid blog reader. I think I stumbled upon the medium in 2002 when I first began working at the Pepperdine School of Public Policy. As the Assistant to the Dean/Manager, Special Projects (leave it to academia to come up with wonky titles!), I found well, a certain amount of down time. Enter dooce.com , and I was sold! I couldn’t help but be engrossed with the ability to be voyeuristic and get a peek into other people’s lives, what they are thinking and what matters to them.
Not long ago, my friend Amy said, “I think you should blog,” during a conversation we were having about our hopes to start a family soon. So, thanks Amy, for the verbal push I needed, or had been looking for, to start this blog. This place where mostly I want to keep family and friends up to date on the husband and me. And so it begins.
